0900-1200   2008 Marijuana Recertification Class (limited to 30 individuals)

Utah BFS personnel will review the changes to the Marijuana Leaf Technician Program and provide an update to admissibility hearings and/or case law.  Participants (Current Utah BFS Marijuana Leaf Technicians only) are encouraged to bring their own questions and/or experiences (especially in court) and share them with other attendees.  This workshop will conclude with a review of the "basics" of marijuana leaf examination and each participant with be administered a proficiency test.  Each individual is encouraged to bring their own stereomicroscope.  This will streamline the proficiency testing process.

1300-1700   2008 FIDO Recertification Class  (Limited to 20 individuals)

Utah BFS individuals will review any changes to the FIDO program and provide an update to admissibility hearings and/or case law.  Participants (Current FIDO certified officers only) are encouraged to bring their own questions and/or experiences (especially in court) and share them with other attendees.  This workshop will conclude with a review of the "basics" of presumptive drug screening and each participant will be administered a proficiency test.  New UNIT kits will be provided to participants who require them.

0800-1200     2008 FIDO (Field Investigation Drug Officer) Class (Limited to 15 individuals)

This eight (8) hour course will provide the student with the ability to presumptively identify three drugs: methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.  Each participant will be provided with training and a UNIT (Utah Narcotics Identification Test) kit and shown how to correctly interpret chemical testing, perform quality control, take adequate notes and write reports.  This training is designed to give the officer the ability to testify in preliminary hearing and help streamline the analysis of controlled substances for their agency.
